VRPhysio Redefines Physical Therapy
Currently, the rehabilitation process consists of treatment by the physical therapist (PT) and home training. Commonly, trainees don’t workout at home as instructed, because exercises are dull, frequently difficult to perform and the physical therapist can’t monitor or guide them after they leave the clinic. Lack of home training result in continuous pain and may lead eventually to medical interventions that might have been prevented by combination of home physical workout and closer physical therapist monitoring.
VRPhysio from VRHealth is a telerehabilitation platform that gamifies home and in-clinic physical therapy and makes it fun and easy to monitor. By using virtual reality devices with weights and biofeedback sensors, VRPhysio can monitor patients through their prescribed rehab or preventive exercises, measure progress and provide a report to the therapist. Virtual reality based physical therapy provides patients with the continuity of care they need to keep them on track and motivated on the path to recovery.
The VRPhysio software has been designed by both physical therapists and game designers. It is compatible with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The initial release includes a variety of neck & cervical-spine exercises suitable to upper-body physical rehab treatment.
VRPhysio is an FDA Class II device, 510(k) exemption and is billable under CPT codes.
