Augmedics creates ViZOR for AR-assisted Surgery
Imagine being able to see inside the human body!
Augmented reality (also known as mixed reality) has the promise of helping surgeons right at the point of care. Check this out “The ViZOR” from Augmedics!
The following description is sourced from Augmedics.com
The ViZOR is an Augmented-Reality Surgical Visualization System that brings disruptive Augmented Reality technology to spine surgeries, in order to increase safety and to enhance surgical performances. It provides surgeons with valuable information during the procedure in a comfortable and intuitive manner. The ViZOR comprises a proprietary patent-pending see-through Augmented Reality optics that projects, in real-time, the 3D patient’s spine onto the surgeon’s retina, with surgical precision and with outstanding depth perception. The ViZOR allows surgeons to see the patient’s anatomy through skin and tissue, just like as if they had “X-Ray vision”.
The ViZOR can track multiple surgical tools and align it with the patient’s 3D spine model. The tracked surgical tools are being projected to the surgeon’s retina in complete registration with the patient’s spine, at sub–millimetric accuracy. An accurate visualization of surgical tools allows surgeons a safe and controlled drilling into the vertebra.
